Pelton Turbine and its working

Image
Pelton Turbine  Pelton turbine or Pelton wheel turbine is an impulse type of water turbine. Pelton wheel extracts the energy from the impulse of moving water or stream and converted it into mechanical energy and further it converted into electric energy. Or in other words- Pelton turbine is a device that converts the kinetic energy of stored water into mechanical energy in the form of circular rotation and this energy is further converted into electrical energy by the help of a generator which is coupled with the shaft of the turbine. Applications : Pelton wheel is the preferred turbine for hydro power, when the available water sources has a relatively high hydraulic head at low flow rate. In a hydroelectric power plant it is used to drive the generator of the turbine and the generator generates the mechanical energy of turbine into electrical energy. Hydroelectric power plant contributes about 16% of the total electricity in the world in 2012. Hydroelectricity is the m...

What is Turbine and its types.

Image
Turbine A turbine is a mechanical device which extracts the energy from fluid - such as water, steam, air or combustion gasses and converts its into useful works. The work produced by the turbine are used to produce electricity, with the help of generator. Generator converted the mechanical (works) energies into electric energy. The are classified as such because engine are simply technologies that take an input and generate an output. A simple turbine is composed of a series of blades , and allows the fluid to enter the turbine, pushing and blades. These blades are spin and eject the fluid which now has less energy it did then when it entered the turbine. Some of the energy is captured by the turbine and used. Turbine are used many different areas such as wind power, hydropower, and in heat engine and for propulsion. Turbine are extremely important because of the facts that nearly all electricity is generated by them. Main Parts of Turbine  The main parts of turbine are :...

Two Stroke Diesel Engine

Image
Two Stroke Diesel Engine Two Stroke Engine is an internal combustion engine. this is the similar in mechanically properties as like four stroke, but more complex in thermodynamic and aerodynamic processes. In a two stroke engine cycle , the four cycle of internal combustion engine theory occur in one revolution , 360 mechanical degree, where as a four stroke engine complete its two revolution , it means 720 of mechanical degree. A two stroke diesel engine is a diesel engine that works in two stocks. In 1899, it was invented by Hugo Guldner. In diesel engine compression ignition process are used. In compression ignition is a process in which the fuel is injected after the air is compressed in the combustion chamber, thereby causing the fuel to self ignited. by constant ,gasoline engine utilized the Otto cycle in which fuel and air are mixed before entering the combustion chamber and then ignited by a spark plug. Application : They are lighter in weight and it can als...

Two Stroke Petrol Engine

Image
Two Stroke Petrol Engine Two Stroke engine is a type internal combustion engine, which completes a power cycle in 'up and down' moments,it means two stroke of the piston during only one crankshaft revolution.  This is in contrast to a four stroke engine, which required four stroke of the piston to completed a power cycle during two crankshaft revolution.  In a two stroke engine the end of the combustion stroke and the begging of the compression stroke happen at together with the intake and exhaust function occurring at the same time. Two stroke petrol engine are used when mechanical simplicity, light weight , and high power to weight ratio and design priorities, with the traditional lubrication technique of mixing oil into the fuel. They are also have an advantage of working in an any orientation , as there is no oil reservoir dependent on gravity, this is an essential property for hand held tool such as chainsaws. Theoretically the power outpu...

Four Stroke Diesel Engine

Image
Four Stroke Diesel Engine The Diesel engine is similar in operation to the gasoline engine. In gasoline engine the spark plug are used for ignition but in engine fuel injector are used instead of spark plug. Diesel engine may be designed as either two stroke or four stroke. It is works on diesel cycle. In diesel engine air is compressed to a sufficiently high temp to ignite diesel fuel injected into cylinder, where the combustion and expansion actuate a piston. The diesel engine converted chemical energy of fuel into mechanical energy , after that it is converted in power, which can we used of this power freight trucks, large tractors or we can used it heavy goods vehicles. Fuel : In the four stroke diesel engine, Petroleum products normally used. Diesel engine are distillates composed of heavy hydrocarbons, with at least 12 to 16 carbons atoms per molecules. these type heavier distillate are taken from crude oil after the more volatile portion used in gasoline are removed. T...

Four Stroke Petrol Engine.

Four Stroke Petrol Engine Four stroke petrol engine is an internal combustion engine in which the piston completes four separate stroke while turning the crank shaft. The four stroke cycle refers to its use in petrol engine, gas engine, light, oil engine and heavy engines in which the mixture of air fuel is drown in the engine cylinder. Since ignition in these engine is due to spark. thus this type of engine is called spark ignition engine.  Four stroke engine is based on Otto cycle. The Otto cycle describes how heat engine turns gasoline into motion. this cycle converted chemical energy into thermal energy and then into motion. the Otto cycle describes how internal combustion engine works with the use of gasoline. The Otto cycle provides the energy for most transportation and was essential for the modern time. the vast majority of automobiles seen on the road today use an Otto cycle to convert gasoline into motion.  Applications of four stroke Petrol Engine: Petrol...

Internal Combustion (IC) Engine and its classifications.

Internal Combustion Engine . An internal combustion engine ( I C Engine ) is a heat engine, in which the mixture of fuel and oxidizer (usually air) are burned in a combustion chamber. In this Internal combustion engine the expansion of high temperature and high pressure gases are produced due to combustion applies directly force to some component of the engine. During this process the force is applied to Piston, turbine blades, or a nozzle. So this forces moves the components over a distance, chemical energy into useful works. In other terms, The internal combustion engine is a device which utilize the chemical energy of fuel into mechanical works. In 1860, the first commercially successful internal combustion engine was created by Belgian engineer Jean Joseph Lenoir. and the first modern internal combustion engine was created by German engineer  Nikolaus Otto in 1876.  According to Design there are two types of Internal combustion engine : 1. Rotary ...
